Turkey's Fibrosan Invests $16.8 Million to Build First U.S. Plant
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Fibrosan, a Turkey-based global manufacturer of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) laminates and composite solutions, has broken ground on its first production facility in the United States, located at the MEC Smart Park in Cassopolis, Michigan.
Active in the FRP sector since 1983, Fibrosan serves customers in over 65 countries and currently operates four local subsidiaries in Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These entities were previously engaged solely in commercial activities, marking this as the company's first production base outside of Turkey.
Fibrosan stated that establishing this U.S. facility aims to serve customers more effectively, shorten lead times, and enhance speed, reliability, and flexibility to adapt to specific customer needs. Through local production, the company will also minimize risks from global supply chain disruptions while helping stabilize prices, providing U.S. customers with more predictable procurement costs. The facility is also designed to support growth in the recreational vehicle (RV) market, with the company simultaneously serving the automotive and construction industries.
The total investment in the new facility amounts to $16.8 million, with Phase 1 alone expected to create 35 new jobs locally, while Phase 2 plans to triple the facility's capacity. The project has received a $200,000 performance grant from the Michigan Business Development Program.
Fibrosan CEO Erim Yucel stated that this facility was not a recent decision but the result of a journey the company began more than two decades ago. Over the years, the company has invested in people, technology, capacity, and relationships, understanding the market, listening to customers, and gradually earning their trust and confidence. He emphasized that breaking ground in Cassopolis is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a new chapter, bringing manufacturing closer to customers, creating opportunities for the local community, and building a long-term sustainable future in North America. The Cassopolis facility is expected to begin production in March 2027.
