NVIDIA and MediaTek Expand AI Collaboration with $3.5 Billion Investment
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 31, NVIDIA and MediaTek expanded their collaboration to develop next-generation computing products across AI infrastructure, edge AI computing, and automotive platforms. MediaTek will adopt the NVIDIA NVLink Fusion platform to provide custom XPU development solutions for hyperscale cloud service providers, cloud service providers, and AI model developers, integrating the relevant chips into NVIDIA NVLink rack-scale AI systems. During the same period, NVIDIA invested $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek.

In the AI infrastructure sector, MediaTek will join the NVLink Fusion technology ecosystem to provide customers with custom AI accelerator design and system integration. The relevant platform covers development stages from chips, multi-die design, and advanced packaging to rack-scale systems, and is equipped with technologies such as NVLink Fusion chiplet, NVLink-C2C, and NVHBM. Customers can configure interconnect, memory, packaging, performance, and power parameters based on their computing workloads.
NVLink Fusion chiplet is used to connect custom XPUs into the NVLink scale-up interconnect network, supporting either optical or electrical interconnect; NVLink-C2C enables high-speed interconnect between XPUs and NVIDIA CPUs and other compatible processors; NVHBM is designed for custom high-bandwidth memory configurations. MediaTek will handle development stages including custom chips, SoC design, advanced packaging, interconnect, and connectivity technologies.
The two companies will also continue developing multiple generations of RTX Spark and DGX Spark computing chips, targeting consumer PCs, AI development systems, and enterprise workstations, integrating NVIDIA GPUs with MediaTek SoCs. The two companies previously collaborated on the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip for DGX Spark, and expanded their collaboration in June this year to include RTX Spark Windows PC processors.
In the automotive sector, the two companies will continue developing multi-generation computing platforms for AI and software-defined vehicles. The existing MediaTek Dimensity Auto platform already integrates NVIDIA AI and RTX graphics technologies and can be used in conjunction with NVIDIA DRIVE AGX; future collaboration will continue to cover automotive SoCs, AI computing, graphics, and software platforms.
