Wedoany.com Report-Jun 21, Vestas has secured a 124MW order from EDF Power Solutions North America for 20 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW wind turbines for the Haute-Chaudière wind project in Québec, Canada. The agreement includes a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 service contract to ensure long-term performance and reliability.
Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America, stated: “The Haute-Chaudière project is a strong example of what’s possible when experienced partners come together to combine supply chain excellence with world-class technology. With Hydro-Québec’s goal of adding 10 GW of wind power by 2035, the province has both the sustained volume and the ambition to lead and it’s only through strong partnerships like this, that those goals become a reality.” Vestas has an established presence in Canada, with over 5GW of installed capacity across all 10 provinces and 428MW of turbines currently under service.
The Haute-Chaudière project is one of three initiatives awarded to EDF Power Solutions through Hydro-Québec’s tender process. Tristan Grimbert, President and CEO of EDF Power Solutions North America, said: “EDF Power Solutions and Vestas share a strong, long-standing partnership that spans over two decades and 2.9 GW of wind energy projects across North America. The Haute Chaudière wind project represents our renewed collaboration with Vestas.” The partnership also involves Québec-based Marmen, which will supply towers and support 130 direct jobs in Trois-Rivières.
Patrick Pellerin, President of Marmen, stated: “Marmen is proud to work with two industry leaders to highlight the importance of a Canadian-based supply chain amid strong market signals. We are ready to help mature this market alongside Vestas and EDF Power Solutions.” Turbine delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, with commissioning planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The project strengthens Québec’s renewable energy infrastructure, aligning with the province’s goal to expand wind power capacity. It also underscores the commitment of Vestas, EDF, and Marmen to sustainable energy development through local collaboration and advanced technology.
