Chile's ENAMI Invests CLP 1.682 Billion to Replace 4 Primary Crushers

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, Chile's National Mining Company (ENAMI) signed an equipment renewal agreement with the Atacama Regional Government to replace 4 primary crushers at the Manuel Antonio Matta ore processing plant in Copiapó and the Osvaldo Martínez de El Salado plant in Chañaral, with 2 crushers allocated to each facility. The total project investment amounts to CLP 1.682 billion, of which the Atacama Regional Government contributes CLP 1.530 billion, accounting for 91%, while ENAMI contributes CLP 151 million. The implementation period is 18 months.

The existing crushing equipment has reached the end of its service life. Once the new equipment is operational, the maximum ore particle size that the two processing plants can receive will increase from the current 12 inches to 20 inches. The agreement scope includes the procurement, installation, and commissioning of the crushers, and the project will be implemented at the Manuel Antonio Matta plant and the Osvaldo Martínez de El Salado plant, respectively.

The Manuel Antonio Matta ore processing plant is located in Copiapó, while the Osvaldo Martínez plant is situated in El Salado, Chañaral. Both facilities handle ore received from small-scale regional mines. Upon completion of this equipment renewal, the existing aging primary crushing systems will be replaced, and the range of ore feed particle sizes will be expanded.

The agreement was signed during the Fifth Atacama Mining Conference, with ENAMI Executive Vice President Juan Carlos Sáez and Atacama Regional Governor Miguel Vargas signing on behalf of both parties. During the same period, the regional government, the Ministry of Mining, and ENAMI jointly advanced 3 cooperation agreements, with related programs totaling over CLP 8.6 billion; the crusher renewal project accounts for CLP 1.682 billion of this amount.
