Wedoany.com Report-Jun 28, The Snowy 2.0 pumped storage hydro project in Australia has completed its first tunnel lining pour at the Tantagara site. This step finishes a 10m portion of a 50m transition tunnel, connecting the water intake diffuser and gate shaft to the 17km headrace tunnel, which feeds water to the power station turbines.

Future Generation Joint Venture, formed by Clough, Webuild, and Whittens, managed the concrete pour. The task involved 566.5 square metres of formwork, 108 tonnes of steel reinforcement, and 800 cubic metres of concrete. The pour, spanning nearly 45 hours, was conducted in phases for the tunnel’s base, walls, and crown.

The tunnel’s travelling formwork system was ready in May, supporting streamlined construction. This achievement advances Snowy 2.0, a significant renewable energy project boosting Australia’s energy storage and generation capabilities.
