Wedoany.com Report-Jun 23, Construction is underway for the East Harbour Transit Hub in Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood, aiming to ease transit congestion and enhance connectivity across the region. Awarded in March 2025, the project is set to serve around 100,000 daily riders, including Ontario Line passengers.

Crews are building the station’s foundations with reinforced concrete caissons, drilled piles, and retaining walls to support the structure and tracks. The next step involves pouring concrete for the main station base. Since 2023, the Eastern Avenue bridge expansion has progressed, with half complete, enabling train use on the new section while the remaining work continues to accommodate six tracks.
Situated east of the Don Valley Parkway and south of Eastern Avenue, the hub will link the Lakeshore East and Stouffville GO lines with the Ontario Line subway, providing direct access to Queen Street and Eglinton Avenue destinations. This is expected to reduce rush hour crowding by up to 14% by avoiding Union Station. Metrolinx is keeping the community informed about construction updates.
The hub will include a transfer concourse, a pick-up and drop-off area, a customer service centre, secure and outdoor bike parking, and connections to the future Broadview Avenue extension. It will offer direct train links to Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Stouffville, Unionville, Markham, Mississauga, Oakville, and Hamilton.
Part of the GO Expansion programme, the hub is a collaboration between the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, the City of Toronto, and Metrolinx. It will form part of a 38-acre Transit-Oriented Community, integrating new residential and commercial spaces to support local growth.
