Wedoany.com Report-Jun 23, JetZero, a California company advancing airliner design, will establish a $4.7 billion manufacturing plant at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026, with the facility expected to produce 20 Z4 aircraft per month by the late 2030s at full capacity.
The Z4, an “all-wing” plane shaped like a manta ray, uses two rear jet engines and optimized aerodynamics to cut fuel consumption by up to 50%. JetZero has purchase agreements with Alaska Airlines and United Airlines and is working with 14 airlines to ensure compatibility with current airport systems. The Z4, designed for the mid-market, seats 250 passengers, offers a 5,000-nautical-mile range, and provides 18-inch-wide seats with window views for all, plus options for no-middle-seat layouts and a 3x2 family seating area.
The initiative will create around 14,500 jobs, the largest job announcement in North Carolina’s history. JetZero is collaborating with Siemens to integrate AI into the plant. Upon completion, the company will move its headquarters from Long Beach, California, to Greensboro.
Governor Josh Stein said: “From first in flight to now the future of flight, North Carolina and our skilled workforce is soaring.”
