en.Wedoany.com Reported - September 16 news: Samsung Electronics' foundry business and Qualcomm are expanding contact regarding 2nm chip foundry cooperation. The two sides are currently discussing matters including chip specifications, foundry pricing, and process optimization. Qualcomm's next-generation flagship mobile chip may adopt a dual-supplier model with both Samsung Electronics and TSMC producing it, but the final order scale Samsung will secure has not yet been determined.

Samsung Electronics is expanding customer adoption of its 2nm GAA process. The company's Q2 2026 performance materials show that its foundry business has secured more design wins for 2nm high-performance computing projects from U.S. customers, and plans to expand mass production of second-generation 2nm process mobile products in the second half of 2026.

Market reports indicate that Samsung's 2nm process yield was once around 20% in the second half of last year and has now improved to approximately 50%–60% this year; TSMC's 2nm process yield is approximately 60%–70%. Qualcomm's yield requirement for large-scale foundry production is reportedly around 70%.

Qualcomm and Samsung have previously continued to advance mobile platform cooperation. In July 2026, Qualcomm announced an expansion of its cooperation with the Samsung Galaxy product line, with the Snapdragon platform continuing to cover devices including foldable phones, smartwatches, and smart glasses.

Qualcomm plans to announce its next-generation flagship mobile chip, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and its high-end version on September 22, at which point the foundry arrangements for the new-generation chip are expected to be further clarified.
