India's Alpex Solar Commissions 2.2GW TOPCon Cell Plant

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Alpex Solar's 2.2 GW tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar cell factory, built in the Kosi Kotwan Industrial Area of Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh, has officially commenced production.

The plant covers an area of 900,000 square feet and will produce G12R TOPCon solar cells. Alpex Solar stated that the new factory expands the company's cell manufacturing capacity and also strengthens its ability to serve the Indian solar market.

Alpex Solar Chief Executive Officer Aditya Sehgal called the 2.2 GW G12R TOPCon cell manufacturing facility an important milestone in the company's development. He said the company has thereby transformed from a solar module manufacturer and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) service provider into a more highly integrated renewable energy enterprise.

Alpex Solar Whole-Time Director Monica Sehgal believes that this 2.2 GW TOPCon cell factory investment is strategically significant, intended to expand the company's manufacturing depth and create greater value in the photovoltaic value chain. She said vertical integration will give the company stronger control over key inputs, technology, and quality, while enhancing its ability to respond to changing market demands.

In Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Alpex Solar operates production facilities, with a business portfolio including solar cells and modules, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, solar water pumps, and aluminum frames. The company also plans to build five new manufacturing plants in Greater Noida and Kosi Kotwan in Uttar Pradesh, as well as in Madhya Pradesh.
