The Government of Cundinamarca, Colombia, will build a nearly 40 kW remote self-generation photovoltaic park

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Government of Cundinamarca (Gobernación de Cundinamarca) has announced that it will build a photovoltaic park in the village of Andorra (vereda Andorra) in the municipality of Jerusalén and feed electricity into the grid under the remote self-generation (Autogeneración de Forma Remota, AGFR) model to offset part of the electricity consumption of the department's administrative headquarters in Bogotá.

The Secretariat of Sustainable Energy and Mining (Secretaría de Energías y Minería Sostenible) stated that the park has an installed capacity of nearly 40 kWp and uses 70 monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, each with a capacity of 720 Wp, installed on ground-mounted support structures. The plant is also equipped with a three-phase inverter and a remote monitoring system.

Once the electricity generated in Jerusalén is fed into the grid, it will offset the electricity consumption recorded at the Government of Cundinamarca's headquarters in Bogotá. Because the generation site and the consumption site are in different geographical locations, the project adopts the remote self-generation model. Under this mechanism, generation and consumption at different locations can be linked through the National Interconnected System (Sistema Interconectado Nacional, SIN), and the electricity can be allocated to the corresponding commercial settlement meters. The Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (Comisión de Regulación de Energía y Gas, CREG) regulates this activity through Resolution No. 101 099 issued in 2026, which was published in February of this year.

The aforementioned resolution sets out the commercial, technical, grid-connection, and operating conditions applicable to remote self-generators and remote marginal generators in Colombia.

To advance the construction of the plant, the Secretariat of Sustainable Energy and Mining signed an inter-administrative agreement with Empresas Públicas de Cundinamarca (EPC) for 637.8 million Colombian pesos (approximately USD 203,000). Of this amount, the Secretariat contributed 402.9 million pesos and EPC contributed 234.8 million pesos. The project will be executed by EPC, and the agreement is valid for up to 16 months.

The plant will be integrated into Cundinamarca's existing photovoltaic installed capacity. One of the department's larger projects is Puerta de Oro, developed by Patria Investments between Guaduas and Chaguaní, which entered commercial operation this year with 360 MWp of installed capacity and an estimated annual generation of more than 700 GWh.
