en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 19, Petrobras disclosed that its board of directors has approved participation in the Brazilian government's new round of economic subsidy program for road diesel. The subsidy was established under Provisional Measure No. 1,391/2026, with a subsidy rate of 1 real per liter of diesel A, applicable to producers and importers. The company's board of directors completed the relevant approval on September 18.

Brazil's Ministry of Finance issued Ordinance No. 2,813 on September 16, setting out the conditions for implementing this subsidy. Petrobras subsequently announced that, effective September 17, it would raise the price of road diesel A sold to distributors by 1 real per liter, while granting an equivalent discount under the government subsidy mechanism, so that the price distributors actually pay for Petrobras diesel remains unchanged. The subsidy is valid for 30 days.

This 1 real per liter subsidy runs in parallel with the 1.12 real per liter diesel subsidy established under the earlier Provisional Measure No. 1,363/2026. Petrobras's participation in the new mechanism does not affect the company's already accrued rights to receive subsidy payments, nor does it revoke its previous participation in the 1.12 real per liter subsidy program; the two subsidy mechanisms may apply simultaneously.

The company has previously participated in Brazilian government fuel subsidy arrangements on multiple occasions. On September 11, Petrobras disclosed that it had received two diesel subsidy payments, of which 643.8 million reais corresponded to June 1–15 and 1,923.7 million reais corresponded to June 16–30. As of that time, the company had received approximately 9.5 billion reais in cumulative payments under the diesel, gasoline, and liquefied petroleum gas subsidy programs.

On September 19, the company further disclosed that it had received 448 million reais in gasoline subsidy payments, corresponding to gasoline sales from July 16–31. Including this amount, the cumulative government subsidies received by Petrobras under the diesel, gasoline, and liquefied petroleum gas subsidy programs have reached 9.9 billion reais.
