en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 17, Norwegian marine technology company Miros disclosed that it had secured double-digit offshore technology project orders in South America during the first to third quarters of 2026, with Brazil accounting for the majority and Guyana also seeing new deployments. The relevant projects cover real-time sea state and wave monitoring, current monitoring, and oil spill detection, applied in scenarios such as subsea construction, offshore support vessel operations, drilling activities, and environmental emergency response.

This round of projects includes both new customers and additional deployments by existing customers. Some customers have expanded Miros systems from a single vessel or asset to more offshore support vessels, marine emergency response vessels, and drilling-related assets, resulting in repeat purchases and expanded installations. Miros stated that the new orders in 2026 continue a series of offshore technology projects it secured in Brazil and Guyana in late 2025.

Miros' technology system is primarily based on X-band radar, sensors, a cloud platform, and data analytics to conduct real-time monitoring of sea state, waves, currents, and surface oil films. The company's existing systems can be used on offshore platforms, work vessels, offshore wind facilities, and coastal areas, and support remote acquisition of marine environmental data.

In the Brazilian market, Miros has long carried out project delivery with local partner Belga Marine. The two parties have previously deployed Miros' cloud-based oil spill monitoring system to multiple offshore production assets in Brazil, synchronizing offshore monitoring data to operators, environmental regulators, and onshore management through real-time cloud data sharing. The system is currently in actual operation at multiple production facilities in Brazil.

Miros' cooperation with Belga Marine in Brazil also includes Petrobras offshore assets. As early as 2018, the two parties secured a contract through bidding to supply 8 sets of X-band radar oil spill detection systems for offshore production facilities in the Campos Basin; in 2023, they continued to advance the cloud-based upgrade of existing oil spill detection systems.

The newly secured projects in 2026 continue to cover four categories of scenarios: subsea construction, drilling, vessel operations, and oil spill emergency response. Miros has not yet disclosed the specific number of orders in this round, the amount of individual contracts, customer names, or equipment delivery schedules, but has confirmed that Brazil is the main market for this round of South American projects.
