GE Vernova Expands Chennai Vallam Campus in India with New 72,000 Sq Ft Manufacturing Facility

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 19, GE Vernova announced the expansion of its manufacturing base at the Vallam campus in Chennai, India, with a new production facility of approximately 72,000 square feet. Following the expansion, the Vallam campus now operates three manufacturing units. The new facility will be used to enhance the campus's production capacity and order delivery flexibility, serving customers in India and overseas markets.

The Vallam campus primarily handles the manufacturing of GE Vernova's power conversion and energy storage-related products. GE Vernova previously commissioned its Renewable Hybrids factory at this site in 2022, producing products such as FLEXINVERTER and FLEXRESERVOIR, and integrating with the FLEXIQ system for power conversion and system control in renewable energy and energy storage projects. The factory had approximately 250 employees at the time of its opening.

This new manufacturing space continues the Vallam site's expansion direction in the field of power conversion and energy storage equipment. GE Vernova stated that the expanded campus will further strengthen the production capacity of advanced power conversion and energy storage solutions and improve manufacturing flexibility for regional and global customers.

In recent years, GE Vernova has also expanded its transmission equipment manufacturing footprint in India. In 2025, the company announced an investment of approximately USD 16 million to add high-voltage direct current transmission and STATCOM valve production lines at its Pallavaram site in Chennai, and to build engineering and testing facilities in Noida, with the new Chennai production line planned to commence operations in early 2027. This project involves different manufacturing sites and product systems from the Vallam expansion.
