Novo Nordisk Proposes Launching More Than 5 Blockbuster Products by 2030 and Expanding Oral GLP-1 Production Capacity

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 21, Novo Nordisk announced a new round of strategic goals at its Capital Markets Day in London, planning to launch more than 5 new drugs with blockbuster potential by 2030 and to achieve risk-adjusted pipeline sales exceeding DKK 150 billion by 2035. The company also proposed maintaining at least 5 Phase III projects in obesity and diabetes and at least 5 Phase III projects in other therapeutic areas by 2030.

In terms of manufacturing and supply systems, Novo Nordisk plans to continue expanding production capacity for oral GLP-1 drugs, building a capacity base by 2030 that can serve 10 times the number of obesity patients compared with the current level. The company also proposed serving more than 60 million patients globally by 2030 and continuing to expand the supply scale of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic disease drugs.

This round of strategy will continue to focus R&D on obesity, diabetes, and related cardiometabolic diseases, while expanding the pipeline in cardiovascular, rare blood disorders, endocrine diseases, and other chronic diseases. Novo Nordisk's current R&D portfolio already covers obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, fatty liver disease, and rare blood and endocrine diseases. The company is also recently advancing clinical development of an oral formulation of Wegovy, CagriSema, and next-generation amylin-based drug candidates.

In terms of financial targets, Novo Nordisk plans to maintain revenue compound annual growth at the level of industry peers from 2026 to 2030, maintain a broadly stable adjusted operating profit margin through 2030, and continue to maintain dividend distributions. In 2025, the company's sales reached DKK 309 billion, operating profit reached DKK 128 billion, and obesity business sales reached DKK 82 billion; as of 2025, the company provided treatment for approximately 46 million obesity and diabetes patients.

Novo Nordisk has incorporated expanding drug supply capacity into this round of strategic execution.
