Wedoany.com Report-Jun 26, BAM has been selected as the construction partner for the Bouwstroom Oost project, a collaboration among five housing corporations to deliver approximately 1,000 affordable and sustainable homes in the eastern Netherlands. This initiative addresses the region’s housing shortage while prioritizing environmentally friendly construction practices.

The homes will be developed via BAM’s concept home strategy.

The homes will be built using BAM’s concept home strategy, which employs standardized designs based on reference models to streamline construction. This approach reduces costs and enhances sustainability without sacrificing comfort or quality. BAM’s stacked housing concept maximizes space efficiency, enabling more homes to be constructed in limited areas while maintaining high living standards.

The selection of BAM followed a tender process that prioritized sustainability criteria aligned with the ‘New Normal’ standard. Key considerations included environmental performance, the use of circular and detachable materials, and the healthiness of construction materials. Factors such as ease of maintenance and overall living quality were also evaluated, ensuring the homes meet modern standards for durability and resident well-being.

BAM’s construction methods are designed to be sustainable, scalable, and adaptable to future needs, contributing significantly to addressing the housing shortage in the eastern Netherlands. The first homes are expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with the Bouwstroom Oost initiative aiming to deliver a total of 2,500 homes in the region.

In addition to this project, BAM Infra Nederland, a division of BAM Group, began the first phase of the Schiphol Plaza bus station renewal at Schiphol Airport in March 2025. This project, undertaken for the Project Multimodal Hub Schiphol, will transform existing bus stops into a sheltered platform with 20 stops, improving transportation infrastructure. Also in March 2025, BAM was appointed by British Land, a UK property company, to oversee the redevelopment of Broadgate Tower within the Broadgate campus in London, further demonstrating BAM’s expertise in large-scale, sustainable construction projects.

This initiative in the eastern Netherlands reflects BAM’s commitment to delivering innovative, eco-friendly housing solutions that support community needs and regional development goals.
