en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 21, India's Premier Energies announced that its 7GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, has officially commenced production and started trial operations, raising the company's total solar cell capacity from 3.6GW to 10.6GW. The new factory covers 101 acres, with total capital expenditure of 32.93 billion rupees and a designed solar cell output of approximately 88,000 cells per hour.

The new facility adopts the N-type TOPCon G12R technology route. Its production system is equipped with automated material transfer, automatic packaging, and digital process control equipment, and incorporates artificial intelligence systems for predictive performance analysis, process parameter control, and manufacturing precision management. Premier Energies stated that after the production line stabilizes and ramps up, the average cell conversion efficiency target is approximately 25.8%. The factory also reserves space for TOPCon+ technology upgrades, including poly-finger metallization and advanced edge isolation processes.

The plant is also equipped with a zero liquid discharge system, reducing fresh water demand in the manufacturing process through production wastewater recovery and reuse. The company had previously planned Naidupeta as its core base for upstream manufacturing expansion. In addition to the current cell production line, it is also advancing a 10GW ingot and wafer manufacturing project locally, with the first phase of 5GW scheduled for completion in December 2027 and the second phase scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.

Premier Energies completed another round of manufacturing capacity expansion this year. Its annual module capacity was previously increased from 5.5GW to 11.1GW; in July, the company disclosed that in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, new solar cell and module orders totaled 1,846MW, with an order value of 30.11 billion rupees, scheduled for delivery in batches during fiscal years 2027 and 2028. The company is also advancing investments in manufacturing segments including ingots, wafers, inverters, transformers, and battery energy storage systems.
