en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Australian company Leeuwin Metals announced the results of the first round of auger sampling of historical tailings in the Marda Central area of the Marda Gold Project. All 10 drill holes in the Butcher Bird historical tailings area returned gold, with gold grades in 1-meter sampling intervals ranging from 0.483 g/t to 0.905 g/t and an average grade of 0.596 g/t, with hole MGAU00004 recording the highest value of 0.905 g/t.

This round of sampling was completed using a handheld auger, and only the top 1 meter of the tailings body has been tested so far. Three-dimensional drone LiDAR scanning shows that the surface extent of the tailings pile is approximately 120 meters × 60 meters, with an estimated volume of about 12,000 cubic meters and a maximum thickness of about 2 meters. In the next phase, Leeuwin Metals plans to expand systematic sampling, test the full thickness of the tailings, and conduct metallurgical and beneficiation tests.

The tailings are located in the Butcher Bird area of Marda Central, adjacent to a major road. The company had previously conducted preliminary sampling of about 30 centimeters at the top of the tailings in this area, with 10 samples averaging 0.77 g/t gold and maximum values of 1.36 g/t and 1.06 g/t, respectively. This auger program expanded the sampling depth to 1 meter and obtained gold-bearing results in all 10 drill holes.

No mineral resource estimate has yet been established for the Butcher Bird tailings. The approximately 12,000 cubic meter figure announced by the company comes from LiDAR surface measurements, and subsequent full-thickness sampling and metallurgical testing will further determine the internal gold grade distribution and beneficiation recovery parameters of the tailings.

Marda Central is part of the Marda Gold Project, which is 100% owned by Leeuwin Metals. The mineral resource estimate for the Marda Project updated by the company in July is 11.4 million tonnes at an average gold grade of 1.03 g/t, containing 378,600 ounces of gold, including indicated resources of 3.1 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.04 g/t containing 104,000 ounces of gold, and inferred resources of 8.3 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.03 g/t containing 274,600 ounces of gold. Marda Central consists of deposits including Python, Taipan, Dolly Pot, Goldstream, and Dugite, and all existing mineral resources are located within approved mining lease boundaries.

Leeuwin Metals plans to continue advancing drilling at the Marda Project, with follow-up exploration work also scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The next phase of work at the Butcher Bird tailings includes infill auger sampling covering the full tailings thickness of about 2 meters, as well as metallurgical testing and processing option evaluation based on the sampling results.
