Nadara Completes 227 MW Agrivoltaic Plant in Italy

en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK-based renewable energy company Nadara has completed the Big Fish agrivoltaic plant in Sicily, with an installed capacity of 227 MW. Nadara claims this is the largest project of its kind in Italy. The project has signed a 156 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon, a new agreement between the two parties; the two companies had previously signed PPAs in Finland and Italy.

The Big Fish plant is located in the municipalities of Catania, Lentini, and Motta Sant'Anastasia, approximately 40 kilometers from Mount Etna, covering about 400 hectares across 15 parcels, with construction completed within 12 months. The design allows agricultural activities to continue on half of the project's footprint.

To accommodate agricultural activities, the solar panels are installed at heights of up to 3 meters. Overhead cables were laid around the site, and 14 wells were newly built or restored to ensure irrigation. The beehives installed in the project are expected to produce approximately 4.5 metric tons of honey per year.

Regional documents show that the project's environmental permit includes a 20 MW/40 MWh battery energy storage system. The environmental permit was approved in May 2023, followed by final approval in October 2023. The project also plans to plant 38,000 trees and maintain 2.5 kilometers of public waterways.

Econergy Secures Up to €160 Million Financing for Romanian Projects

Israeli company Econergy has reached an equity investment agreement of up to €160 million with Israeli financial institution Phoenix Financial to continue developing its renewable energy project portfolio in Romania.

The transaction plans to establish a holding company in the UK to consolidate ownership of 16 Romanian projects. The funds will be paid in installments over 18 months after the transaction closes, with up to €130 million available within the first 12 months and the remaining €30 million paid thereafter.

This investment is an addition to the existing €225 million financing framework agreement between Phoenix and Econergy. Within this framework, Phoenix will also invest an additional €43 million, of which €38 million will be used to develop projects combining solar power generation with battery storage.

Econergy currently has a portfolio of solar, BESS, and wind projects in Romania totaling 1.1 GW under construction or grid-ready. The company's strategy includes integrating energy storage into some of its existing solar facilities.

Negratín Completes Financing for 39 MWp Solar Project in Colombia

Grupo Negratín has completed financial close on its second solar project portfolio in Colombia, with a total installed capacity of 39 MWp. The transaction involved Banco de Bogotá and Findeter, including investment structuring arrangements and the signing of a 15-year power purchase agreement.

The Andalusian group will also be responsible for the execution and operation of these projects. Negratín's first financial close in Colombia corresponded to the Alma 2 project, which entered commercial operation in 2025.

The company has participated as a contractor in approximately 20% of the developed projects in Colombia's solar market and plans to reach 300 MWp of operational capacity in the country by 2030.
