Punjab, Pakistan Launches 10,000 Farm Machines in Phase IV of Green Tractor Program

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Pakistan's Punjab Province launched Phase IV of the "Chief Minister's Green Tractor Program" and held a digital ballot in Lahore. This phase will provide 10,000 tractors of 50–65 horsepower to eligible farmers, with a subsidy of 750,000 Pakistani rupees per tractor, mainly targeting agricultural operators with 5 acres or more of land.

According to the 2026–2027 project arrangements published by the Punjab Provincial Department of Agriculture, the project cost of Phase IV of the Green Tractor Program is approximately 7.6482 billion rupees, with about 6.261 billion rupees allocated for the current year. The project adopts a government subsidy approach to lower the financial threshold for farmers purchasing tractors, and equipment supply is organized and implemented on the basis of locally pre-qualified tractor manufacturers and importers.

On the equipment side, in addition to 50–65 horsepower tractors, Punjab Province is also planning Phase V of the High-Power Green Tractor Program. Phase V aims to deliver 9,500 tractors of 75–125 horsepower, with a subsidy of 1 million rupees per tractor, and applicants are required to own 7 acres or more of land. The planned cost of this project is approximately 9.5966 billion rupees, with about 9.9 billion rupees in annual funding allocated.

At the launch site of the Phase IV ballot, the Punjab provincial government also displayed and inspected locally assembled 90-horsepower and 100-horsepower tractors. The Department of Agriculture had previously launched pre-qualification for the 2026–2027 fiscal year for tractor manufacturers, importers, as well as GPS tracking systems and centralized monitoring platforms, establishing an implementation system for the subsequent supply of subsidized vehicles and equipment management.

Previously, Phase III of the Green Tractor Program was launched in February this year, also delivering 10,000 tractors of 50–65 horsepower; before the launch of Phase III, the first two phases had cumulatively distributed 21,000 tractors to farmers. As Phase IV enters the ballot and equipment allocation stage, Punjab Province's Green Tractor Program continues to expand the scale of agricultural machinery renewal.
