Public Notice of Grid Connection Application for Argentina's 5MW Ampajango I Photovoltaic Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 25, Argentina's National Electricity and Gas Regulatory Agency (ENReGE) published the application for access to existing transmission capacity for the Ampajango I photovoltaic power station. The project is developed by Visión Inversiones y Participaciones (VIPSA), located in the Santa María area of Catamarca Province, with a planned installed capacity of 5MW, and is intended to be connected to the Argentine Interconnection System through the grid facilities of Energía de Catamarca SAPEM (EC SAPEM).

Ampajango I plans to install 8,424 720Wp photovoltaic modules, 19 Huawei SUN2000-330KTL-H1 inverters, and a 0.8/33kV, 6.6MVA step-up facility. The power station will be connected to the 33kV busbar of the Ampajango 220/33/13.2kV substation via approximately 2.2 kilometers of aluminum conductor, with the line primarily overhead and including a short section of underground cable.

The project was previously approved by Argentina's Energy Secretariat on August 4 to enter the wholesale electricity market with a capacity of 5MW. In 2023, Ampajango I was also selected for Argentina's RenMDI renewable energy tender project list; the project's environmental impact study was approved by the relevant authorities of Catamarca Province in December 2023.

Both EC SAPEM and CAMMESA have provided technically feasible opinions on the connection scheme, while also proposing grid connection control conditions. The project needs to be equipped with anti-islanding protection and automatic or manual generation output reduction functions, and must cooperate in implementing output curtailment under low-load, high-irradiance, or locally constrained network conditions. For certain N-1 contingencies, subsequent electrical studies are still needed to further determine automatic output reduction or generator tripping schemes.

In accordance with ENReGE Resolution No. 658/2026, this grid connection application will be publicly displayed on the ENReGE and CAMMESA platforms for 5 administrative working days. After the public display period ends, an additional 5 working days will be open for submitting alternative proposals, opinions, or objections; if there are no qualifying objections or superior alternatives, the project will obtain access permission for existing transmission capacity.
