en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, GLP China and Saudi Arabia's International Power and Water Company (Acwa) announced the establishment of a strategic partnership. The two parties will jointly explore new energy investment opportunities in the Chinese market, with a focus on centralized wind power, photovoltaic, and energy storage sectors. This cooperation will combine GLP China's resources in infrastructure investment, asset operations, and local project development with Acwa's capabilities in investing in, constructing, and operating large-scale power projects to advance the development of potential new energy projects.

Acwa is headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with business operations covering power, seawater desalination, green hydrogen, and energy storage, and is listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange. As of the end of 2025, the company's total global power project installed capacity was approximately 93 GW, of which renewable energy installed capacity was approximately 52.3 GW, and energy storage project scale was approximately 5.6 GWh, with operations spanning markets including the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and China.

China has been designated by Acwa as a key growth market. The company previously disclosed plans to invest approximately USD 30 billion in China by 2030, with investment directions including renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, and other sectors. In its 2025 annual strategy, Acwa further proposed that China will become one of its important markets for international business expansion, and projected that China's renewable energy installed capacity will continue to grow rapidly between 2024 and 2030.

Following the establishment of this cooperation with GLP China, Acwa's project expansion in China will further extend to local infrastructure investment platforms. The centralized wind power, photovoltaic, and energy storage projects that both parties are focusing on are all new energy assets characterized by relatively large capital investment and long development cycles. Among them, energy storage can also be paired with wind and solar projects to improve the regulation capacity of new energy power. Acwa has previously included China in its key global layout regions for renewable energy and green hydrogen, and continues to expand its local project pipeline.
