en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced that they will collectively invest $1 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure company Helix Digital Infrastructure. Of this, Samsung Electronics will invest $500 million, with the remaining $500 million contributed jointly by the other five companies. Helix was established in June of this year by global investment firm KKR and operates in the field of global AI infrastructure development.

Helix's investment and operational scope covers hyperscale data center development and operation, baseload and flexible power, power transmission and distribution infrastructure, and fiber optic networks and connectivity facilities. The company is led by former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky and primarily serves hyperscale cloud service providers, offering an integrated development and investment platform for data centers, power, and network infrastructure.

At its founding, Helix had already secured over $10 billion in long-term capital commitments. KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia, and U.S. power company Vistra are its founding investors, with Nvidia also serving as strategic technology partner to support infrastructure deployments aligned with Nvidia's DSX AI factory architecture; Vistra serves as Helix's preferred power partner, providing existing power resources and new power development capabilities for related investment projects.

The six Samsung companies participating in this investment respectively cover semiconductors, data center construction and operation, engineering and construction, data center cooling, battery energy storage, and financial services. Samsung Electronics currently has semiconductor and data center cooling product businesses, Samsung C&T's engineering and construction division undertakes EPC projects for data centers and power generation infrastructure, Samsung SDS is engaged in data center design, construction, and operation, and Samsung SDI's business involves uninterruptible power supplies and backup battery systems for data centers. Samsung stated that the participating companies will subsequently explore cooperation around Helix's global AI data center and supporting infrastructure deployments.
