Andrada's Namibia Uis Tin Mine H1 Contained Tin Production Up 13% to 576 Tonnes
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, Andrada Mining released its operating data for the first half of fiscal year 2027 ended August 31. Contained tin production at the Namibia Uis Tin Mine reached 576 tonnes, up 13% year-on-year; tin concentrate production was 955 tonnes, up 11% year-on-year. Ore processed during the period increased to approximately 539,000 tonnes, up 2% year-on-year, the average tin feed grade rose from 0.137% to 0.149%, and the plant's average processing capacity increased by 7% to 153 tonnes per hour.

In the second quarter, contained tin production at the Uis mine was 290 tonnes, up 6% year-on-year, and tin concentrate production was 482 tonnes, also up 6%. The average tin feed grade for the quarter rose to 0.152%, up from 0.139% in the same period last year; in the first half, plant availability reached 91%, but equipment utilization fell to 89% from 94% in the same period last year. As production increased, concentrate shipments rose from 25 batches to 36 batches in the first half.
Andrada also disclosed that the next phase of expansion at Uis has secured N$98 million in financing, equivalent to approximately £4.4 million, provided by Bank Windhoek and the Development Bank of Namibia and arranged through the company's wholly owned subsidiary Uis Tin Mining Company. The financing will be used for mine and plant upgrades, with the core project being the addition of a crushing and ore sorting system; long-lead equipment for the crushing stage has already been ordered.
The new ore sorting system will reject low-grade material before ore enters subsequent processing stages, increasing the average grade fed to the plant. Andrada expects that once the project is completed, annual tin concentrate production at Uis can increase by 50% to 70%, reaching 2,500 to 3,000 tonnes, corresponding to approximately 1,500 to 1,900 tonnes per year of contained tin. The company plans to continue advancing construction of the crushing and ore sorting system in the second half of fiscal year 2027.
Uis's current production increase still mainly comes from improvements in feed grade and processing efficiency, while a larger production increase corresponds to the subsequent commissioning of the ore sorting system. At this stage, the new financing, equipment procurement, and production targets have been clearly defined, and the next substantive milestone will be the installation and commissioning of the crushing and sorting system.
