en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, Caterpillar dealer Warren CAT disclosed that its Store 05 facility in Midland, Texas, has activated an AutoStore goods-to-person automated system implemented by Kardex for parts storage, picking, and replenishment. The facility integrates a store, engine shop, warehouse, and parts distribution functions, and the system is now in daily operation.

The AutoStore system covers approximately 5,600 square feet and is equipped with 20,852 storage bins, 20 robots, 3 outbound CarouselPort workstations, and 2 inbound conveyor ports. The system uses robots to deliver bins directly to operator workstations, replacing manual travel within the warehouse to find parts, and supports workflows of varying priorities such as Will Call, Parts Shuttle, Engine Shop, and customer orders.

According to data disclosed by Kardex, the system is designed to support 3,648 picking tasks and 751 putaway tasks per day, and manages putaway, inventory, order allocation, and picking processes through FulfillX warehouse execution software. The system is also configured with an urgent-order-first model, adjusting processing sequence based on order type, urgency, and destination.

Warren CAT operates a parts and service network in West Texas and Oklahoma, currently stocking approximately 135,000 parts SKUs, with total inventory of about 26 million units, and approximately 97% of parts orders can be fulfilled within 24 hours on a daily basis. The Midland automated system primarily handles small and medium-sized parts suitable for entry into the AutoStore grid, and reserves expansion capacity for subsequently adding robots, workstations, and storage capacity.
