Daimler Truck Financial Services USA Opens North Carolina Headquarters on September 29 with Approximately $7.8 Million Investment
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Daimler Truck Financial Services USA (DTFS) cut the ribbon on its new headquarters on September 29 and officially opened its campus in Ballantyne, N.C., after consolidating its existing operations. The campus will house 350 employees on a permanent basis; as operations were consolidated into the Charlotte-area suburb, offices in Detroit and the Fort Worth, Texas, metropolitan area have been closed.

DTFS's relocation of employees to North Carolina is part of a broader effort by Daimler Truck to shrink its geographic footprint, including the closure of its Swan Island plant in Portland, Oregon, at the end of October. Plans to build the largest Freightliner and Western Star truck manufacturing plant in North America are also expected to reflect this strategic focus.
DTFS invested approximately $7.8 million in the Ballantyne campus. Kevin Bangston, President and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services USA, said in a statement announcing the official opening that it marks a new chapter for Daimler Truck Financial Services' North American operations.
North America is DTFS's largest market, accounting for approximately 60% of its portfolio. The unit, which has approximately $35 billion in assets globally, was established in 2021 when Daimler Truck was spun off from Daimler AG and now operates in 21 countries.
Stephan Unger, DTFS's top global executive, said in comments released with the announcement that the new headquarters supports more effective service to customers and dealers while strengthening collaboration across the North American organization; it reflects the company's confidence in the region's future and its commitment to continued investment to help customers keep the world moving.
Unger recently told reporters on the sidelines of the IAA Transportation conference that Daimler Truck is confident in continued growth in North American Class 8 truck demand and therefore intends to expand customer-facing lease and rental options through DTFS. He said that in its largest market, DTFS is seeking to expand beyond traditional financing, especially as the freight market continues to recover.
In Hanover, Unger said DTFS is studying an expansion of its leasing business, but at an appropriate pace, or step by step, and cannot pursue everything at once. He added that customers have also shown greater demand for leasing options in North America, but Unger could not provide further details.
Pent-up demand is being released. According to FTR Transportation Intelligence, preliminary net orders for Class 8 trucks in August rose 42% year over year to 18,200 units; orders surged 241% in June, the largest year-over-year increase in eight consecutive months of growth.
Daimler Truck CEO Karin Radstrom separately told reporters in Hanover that Freightliner and Western Star won 45% of Class 8 truck orders in July and 47%-48% in August. Radstrom expects the strong third- and fourth-quarter performance of Daimler Truck North America's two Class 8 truck brands to continue into 2027.
