en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 5, preparatory works began on the Markovic–Lastva Grbaljska section of the Budva Bypass Road in Montenegro. The project is being implemented by Monteput, Montenegro's state-owned road company. The design and construction contract is worth approximately EUR 237.47 million (tax included), with a contract duration of 48 months, counted from the date the contractor officially enters the site. The main alignment is about 8 kilometers long, and the total length is about 9 kilometers when access roads are included.

The project is being implemented under the design-build model. The contracting consortium is composed of Briv Construction and Herc Gradnja of Montenegro, Hering and IPSA Institut of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Shandong Foreign Economic & Technical Cooperation Co., Ltd. of China. Shandong Foreign Economic & Technical Cooperation Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shandong Hi-Speed Group. Monteput signed the design and construction contract with the consortium at the end of June.

The works are located between the Markovic interchange and the Lastva Grbaljska interchange, with about 70% of the route consisting of tunnels, bridges, and other engineering structures. Among these, the tunnels total about 4.3 kilometers in length, and the bridges and viaducts total about 1.4 kilometers. Two interchanges, Markovic and Lastva Grbaljska, will also be built. The project is part of Phase I of the Budva Bypass section of Montenegro's coastal expressway.

The Montenegrin government approved preparatory works for this section on September 24. The related work includes the construction of construction access roads and auxiliary roads, construction platforms, camps and office facilities, temporary power and water supply, as well as fencing, signage, and site clearance in the construction area. The project company also needs to continue advancing the documents required for the construction permit for the main alignment works.

According to the contract arrangement, the first year is mainly for completing the main design documents, obtaining relevant approvals, and implementing preparatory works. The contracting consortium confirmed on October 5 that it has begun preparing the technical documents required by the contract. The preparatory phase is planned to last until the end of October 2027, after which the main construction phase will begin.

The project is funded by Montenegro's national capital budget. In addition to the design and construction contract, Monteput signed a separate professional supervision contract for the project's design and construction in July this year, with Građevinski institut–Centralna putna laboratorija responsible for the related supervision work.
