en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 5, Perpetual Next signed a memorandum of understanding with Lhyfe Delfzijl, a subsidiary of French green hydrogen producer Lhyfe. The two parties will evaluate options for long-term supply of renewable hydrogen to the DeltaNor biomethanol project in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. Under the agreement, Lhyfe plans to supply up to approximately 12,000 tons of renewable hydrogen per year to DeltaNor through the local DelfzHyl green hydrogen project. The final supply arrangement remains subject to completion of technical and commercial assessments.

DeltaNor is being developed by DeltaNor B.V., a subsidiary of Perpetual Next, with planned biomethanol production capacity of 220,000 tons per year. The project is located on approximately 16 hectares of industrial land in the Eemsdelta industrial area of Delfzijl. The project adopts a biogenic carbon gasification route, using biogenic carbon produced by the associated DeltaTorr unit to produce syngas, which is then converted into biomethanol; DeltaTorr has a planned biogenic carbon production capacity of 350,000 tons per year, and the two units are located at the same site.

Under this cooperation plan, the renewable hydrogen supplied by Lhyfe will supplement the hydrogen inherently contained in the biomass-derived syngas, thereby increasing the conversion of biogenic carbon into methanol. Lhyfe is currently developing the DelfzHyl renewable hydrogen project in Delfzijl, with a planned electrolysis hydrogen production capacity of 120 MW. In the next phase, both parties will continue to study the hydrogen supply scheme between the two units, technical interfaces, commercial terms, and relevant public support mechanisms.

DeltaNor is currently in the engineering development phase ahead of a final investment decision. On September 14, Perpetual Next appointed Bilfinger as owner's engineer for the DeltaTorr and DeltaNor projects, responsible for the next phase of engineering development and coordination among different technical disciplines and project participants, as the project advances toward a final investment decision. Perpetual Next previously announced that the overall Delfzijl development plan has potential capital expenditure of up to approximately EUR 1 billion.

At the end of April this year, Perpetual Next also selected JPB Logistics as the preferred partner for DeltaNor biomethanol storage and handling services, with planned total tank capacity of approximately 21,000 to 35,000 cubic meters. The relevant final agreement is likewise subject to the project reaching a final investment decision and completion of commercial terms negotiations.
