en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 5, Associated British Ports launched the procurement of the civil engineering works package for the Grimsby River Terminal, targeting contractors with experience in large ports, marine engineering, and complex civil engineering projects. This round constitutes the first stage of a competitive flexible procedure, primarily for prequalification, with applications due by 12:00 noon on October 30. Contractors that pass the qualification review will proceed to the subsequent formal tender stage.

This civil engineering works package covers port and terminal construction, marine works, foundations and piling, concrete works, roads, paving, and water supply and drainage infrastructure, and constitutes the core civil construction package for the Grimsby River Terminal. The procurement documents list experience in large ports, marine engineering, and complex civil engineering projects as key screening criteria, while also assessing applicants' technical capabilities, financial condition, health and safety performance, quality management, environmental qualifications, and organizational and implementation capabilities.

The procurement adopts a two-stage competitive flexible procedure. The first stage involves qualification screening based on participation conditions, and the second stage issues formal tender invitations to shortlisted contractors. In this qualification stage, the technical evaluation weighting is 100%. The project is not divided into lots, and the procurement notice does not disclose the contract value. The currently published timetable shows that the contract is scheduled to commence on March 31, 2027, and end on May 31, 2028, with a duration of approximately 14 months. A next-stage award decision is expected around November 30.

The Grimsby River Terminal is located in the Humber estuary port area of the United Kingdom. Its existing facilities can accommodate large car carriers, with each vessel capable of carrying approximately 3,000 vehicles. The port area is directly connected to the A180 road and can further connect to the M180, M18, and M1, while also having rail access conditions. According to ABP information, the Port of Grimsby has approximately 58.27 hectares of developable land and features deep-water river berths.

This tender advances the civil engineering works from the earlier project development phase to the contractor selection stage. Subsequent work will focus on terminal structures, foundation works, roads, and port area supporting facilities as they enter the formal tender process. ABP currently operates 21 ports in the United Kingdom. Its Humber port cluster, which includes Grimsby, Immingham, Hull, and Goole, is one of its main port asset clusters.
