en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei confirmed that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the geographical coordinates of safe shipping lanes for vessels entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz and the procedures for notifying relevant international institutions. The two sides plan to launch the relevant notification work in the near future, but have not yet published the complete lane coordinates, the official registration date with international institutions, or the implementation timeline for the new navigation arrangements. The agreement concerns the navigation routes for vessels entering and exiting the Persian Gulf and does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz has fully returned to normal navigation.

Iran and Oman had previously held multiple rounds of consultations on navigation arrangements for the strait. On June 23, the two countries issued a joint statement in Muscat, Oman, confirming that they would uphold safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with applicable international law and continue to coordinate relevant arrangements. In August, the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on the geographical coordinates of the safe shipping lanes, but the relevant documents and implementation details were still under negotiation. This time, the Iranian side further confirmed the procedures for notifying international institutions of the lane arrangements.

Regarding the progress of Iran-U.S. negotiations, Baghaei stated that Iran has clearly put forward relevant conditions for ending the conflict and restoring security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and will respond to the proposals put forward by the United States through intermediary parties. Relevant messages between Iran and the United States are still being conveyed through intermediaries, and the Iranian side has not announced a final agreement on the full reopening of the strait.

As of October 7, commercial vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is still affected by the security situation. Ship tracking data shows that only 7 cargo vessels passed through the channel on October 6, rebounding to 10 on October 7, still significantly below pre-conflict navigation levels.
