en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 8, Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk announced that, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East driving up fuel costs, the company has decided to raise the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) for relevant UK export pickup and import delivery services to 20%, with the new rate effective from October 12, 2026. This adjustment applies to pickup and delivery services for relevant import and export cargo, and Maersk will continue to regularly assess the fee level based on changes in fuel prices.

In its customer notice, Maersk cited fuel price comparison data from the Road Haulage Association (RHA) as the basis for adjusting the surcharge. The company confirmed that the new standard applies to all export pickup and import delivery operations within the scope of the notice, but did not specify in this announcement the specific rate previously in effect, nor did it disclose the cargo volume, number of customers, or changes in surcharge revenue involved in this adjustment.

On September 18, Maersk had announced arrangements for adjusting UK intermodal fuel rates, setting the fuel surcharge for road or rail transport applicable from October 1 at 10.6%, with some customers under special pricing agreements potentially subject to higher rates.
