UK's Colt Completes Validation of Hollow-Core Fiber Deployment at Two London Network Nodes

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 13, UK communications infrastructure operator Colt Technology Services announced that, in collaboration with Relativity Networks and Network Planning Solutions (NPS), it had completed a live-network proof of concept for ChronoCore hollow-core fiber in central London. The project connected two nodes of Colt's existing communications network, completing fiber installation, splicing, testing, and validation work, with the relevant links now integrated into Colt's operational network infrastructure.

In this deployment, Relativity Networks supplied the ChronoCore hollow-core fiber, NPS was responsible for on-site installation, fiber splicing, and performance validation, and Colt provided the existing metro network facilities. NPS completed fiber installation and associated connection work within London's existing communications network environment and tested the deployed fiber links. Upon project completion, the three parties confirmed that ChronoCore had been successfully integrated into Colt's existing network.

ChronoCore uses an air-core transmission structure. Product technical specifications published by Relativity Networks show that the propagation speed of optical signals in this fiber is approximately 47% higher than in traditional glass fiber, with a target latency reduction of approximately 30%. Colt lists the technology's subsequent application areas as data center interconnection, AI training and inference cluster connectivity, cloud computing regional interconnection, financial trading networks, and other low-latency enterprise communications links.
