en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, China's 16th Arctic Ocean Scientific Expedition team announced the results of a quasi-operational application test of domestically developed satellite internet on the Arctic route. The "Jidi" research vessel completed networking and communication verification across the Arctic, Antarctic, and Qinghai-Xizang Plateau for the first time. During this voyage, more than 300 files were sent and received, over 100GB of data was transmitted, and more than 40 video consultations were conducted. Multiple tests were completed, including voice calls, large-capacity file transfers, ship-to-shore video conferences, and data return from marine survey equipment.

This networking verification connected the "Jidi" during its Arctic voyage, the Qinling Station in Antarctica, relevant stations in Xizang, and the North China Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Multiple locations conducted real-time video communications via domestically developed satellite internet and completed cross-regional audio and video connection tests. Institutions including the Polar Research Institute of China also verified the communication system's operation under extreme low temperatures, high altitudes, strong windblown sand, and ice fog.

For the first time, this voyage used domestically developed satellite internet for remote online medical support in polar regions. After an expedition member suddenly fell ill, personnel on board established a high-definition video connection with relevant hospitals and experts in Qingdao via satellite broadband network, conducted remote medical consultation, and completed a comprehensive assessment of the condition.

Data transmission from marine survey equipment was also included in this test. During the vessel's underway voyage and deployment, the domestically developed marine "Smart Sensing" drifting buoy completed observation data collection and real-time return via domestically developed satellite internet. During the test period, the buoy's data transmission rate and quality met practical use requirements, and the marine forecasting platform also achieved continuous online operation throughout the voyage.
