en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 25, during the 2026 Uzbekistan ICT Week held in Tashkent, China's APT Satellite Communication Co., Ltd. (APT Satellite, APSTAR) signed a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan's national satellite operator UZ-SAT, under which the two sides will expand cooperation in the fields of satellite communications and digital infrastructure. The signing ceremony took place during a meeting between Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and Wang Hongbin, Executive Director and President of APT Satellite. The Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan officially released information about the cooperation that same day.

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate on satellite communications, broadband internet access, television broadcasting and other digital communication services, and will study the use of APT Satellite's existing and future satellite resources to enhance Uzbekistan's communications network coverage. The two sides also exchanged views on regional satellite infrastructure, international communications connectivity, and joint projects targeting the Uzbek and Central Asian markets.

APT Satellite also presented its satellite resource expansion and next-generation satellite deployment plans. Follow-up cooperation directions include integrating relevant satellite capacity into Uzbekistan's communications infrastructure and providing supplementary connectivity for areas inadequately covered by traditional terrestrial communications networks. Specific satellite capacity, frequency band configurations, ground station construction plans and investment amounts have not yet been publicly disclosed.

UZ-SAT has recently been accelerating the introduction of international satellite communications resources. On September 22, it also signed a cooperation agreement with Amazon Leo, under which UZ-SAT will serve as Amazon Leo's authorized distributor in Uzbekistan, introducing low-earth-orbit satellite broadband services to areas where terrestrial network coverage is difficult. Following the signing with APT Satellite, UZ-SAT's scope of cooperation now further covers traditional communications satellite resources and regional digital infrastructure.
