en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 16, Rosatom and Indonesian company PT Pembangkit Listrik Nuklir signed a power supply agreement for a floating nuclear power project during Russian Energy Week in Moscow. The plan is to deploy two FPU-100 floating nuclear power units with a total installed capacity of 200 MW in the North Halmahera region of North Maluku Province, Indonesia. Rosatom stated that this is its first export project for power supply from floating nuclear power units.

The project adopts Rosatom's RITM series reactor technology, with each floating unit having a rated electrical power of 100 MW. The two units will be deployed in the northern part of Halmahera Island in eastern Indonesia to provide nuclear power to local electricity users. According to the arrangement announced by the Russian side, the first batch of electricity from the project is planned to be delivered within five years after the main terms of the power supply contract take effect.

The two sides have adopted a business-to-business commercial cooperation model, implementing the project through private capital investment without using Indonesia's state budget funds. According to the commercial arrangements disclosed by the Russian side, the floating nuclear power units will continue to be owned by Rosatom, and the Indonesian partner will purchase the electricity produced during the units' operation under the power supply contract. The power supply arrangement covers the units' 60-year design service life.

Rosatom has also proposed a two-phase nuclear power development plan to Indonesia. The first phase involves deploying small-power floating nuclear power units, and the second phase involves studying the construction of an onshore nuclear power plant equipped with high-power reactors. The company is currently also implementing a floating nuclear power project in Russia's Chukotka region for the Baimsky copper mining project, with plans to build four units with a total installed capacity of 424 MW.
