en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, ExxonMobil disclosed that it is evaluating the feasibility of tying in nearby exploration wells such as Rockhead offshore Guyana to the future development system of the Ranger oil and gas discovery area. Company Vice President John Ardill stated that the related exploration and appraisal work is concentrated in the central part of the Stabroek Block, studying commercial development options for the Ranger discovery area through near-field drilling, stratigraphic data acquisition, and production testing.

The Rockhead-1 exploration well was drilled by the Stena Carron drillship in 2026, located approximately 115.2 nautical miles (about 213.4 kilometers) off the coast of Guyana, with drilling operations originally scheduled to conclude on August 31. ExxonMobil had previously listed the well as an oil exploration target. Ardill confirmed on this occasion that Rockhead is among the nearby exploration targets being evaluated around the Ranger discovery area, and that the relevant well locations are included in the scope of potential subsea tie-back development studies.

The Ranger oil and gas discovery is located in the central part of the Stabroek Block and was announced in January 2018. The Ranger-1 discovery well was drilled to a depth of 6,450 meters in a water depth of 2,735 meters, encountering approximately 70 meters of high-quality oil-bearing interval in carbonate reservoirs. ExxonMobil continues to conduct appraisal drilling around the discovery area, collecting reservoir geological and production test data to determine the commercial development path.
