en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting on livestock reform in Islamabad, announcing that the federal government will use its own resources to build a national-level livestock vaccine production plant, and required relevant departments to submit within one week an implementation plan for building the facility relying on the National Agricultural Research Center. The new plant is intended to undertake localized production of modern livestock vaccines, with a focus on advancing the manufacture of purified veterinary vaccines.

The meeting heard a report on the production and regulation of livestock vaccines in Pakistan. Relevant departments stated that livestock vaccines currently supplied domestically have not yet obtained approval from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, and the government is advancing localized production of purified vaccines that meet regulatory requirements.

Sharif also required the restructuring of the Livestock and Dairy Development Board, incorporating private-sector professionals into the board, and the prompt submission of an institutional restructuring plan. The board was established in 2007 and is responsible for livestock breeding, the production of dairy and meat products, and the development of related industries.

The meeting also reported on progress in third-party audits of slaughterhouses and the construction of bonded warehousing facilities for imported livestock. The government required efforts to channel imported livestock into meat and dairy processing and to expand exports of related products.
