Nigeria's ₦2.25 Billion 500-Hectare Pasture Project Awarded

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The World Bank-supported Nigeria Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has released its contract award results. The 500-hectare integrated pasture production project in Plateau State was awarded to MANCHONG-JAMYB JV, with a contract amount of ₦2.25 billion and a contract duration of 12 months. The award notice was issued on September 8, with procurement number NG-PLATEAU L-PRES-550713-CW-RFB.

The project will establish pasture production bases in three senatorial districts of Plateau State: Shendam 100 hectares, Panyam Fish Farm 200 hectares, and BARC Farms Zalaki 200 hectares, totaling 500 hectares. The project is funded through the International Development Association (IDA) financing arrangement for the L-PRES project, with loan number IDA-70570.

The contract was implemented through open tender. The early tender documents were issued in late July, with a bid submission deadline of August 24, followed by bid evaluation and award procedures. The winning consortium is registered in Nasarawa State, Nigeria, and both the final evaluated price and contract price are ₦2.25 billion.

The 500-hectare pasture base is one of the livestock infrastructure projects promoted by L-PRES in Plateau State. The project also includes the construction of a poultry industry center, artificial insemination and breeding center, among other tasks. The fencing works for the artificial insemination and breeding center at Kuru Livestock Complex were awarded under another batch of contracts in August, and the poultry industry center project also had its contractor determined in July.

The 500-hectare pasture project is primarily aimed at increasing a stable forage source for the livestock breeding system and forming large-scale pasture production capacity across three areas. At this stage, the public procurement documents have specified the project locations, areas, contract amount, and duration, but have not yet disclosed further details such as specific pasture varieties, irrigation facility scale, machinery and equipment lists, or investment allocation for individual bases.
