en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, UK oil and gas operator Perenco UK announced that it had completed the decommissioning of two subsea oil and gas facilities, Leman South and Durango, in the Southern North Sea. The work involved the permanent plugging and abandonment of wells 53/02a-15Y and 48/21a-4z, as well as the removal of associated subsea infrastructure. All operations were carried out under a single offshore work program and completed within the agreed schedule.

The decommissioning project was implemented by Perenco in partnership with specialist offshore decommissioning services provider Petrodec. Petrodec, part of the Dixstone group, was responsible for providing decommissioning construction solutions, using its HAEVA jack-up platform to carry out well plugging and abandonment, permanent well abandonment and related subsea infrastructure recovery in a concentrated campaign. The decommissioning of the two assets was executed under a unified offshore work arrangement, reducing the need to organize separate drilling rig operations.

Perenco had previously used the HAEVA platform in the decommissioning of the Gawain, Arthur and Davy subsea assets in the Southern North Sea. The Leman South and Durango decommissioning continues this approach, combining the plugging and abandonment of multiple wells and subsea infrastructure recovery into a single operating campaign. Joe White, Managing Director of Perenco UK's Southern North Sea business, said that the project used Petrodec's jack-up platform to perform complex subsea well abandonment and facility recovery operations, replacing the approach of relying entirely on conventional drilling rigs and separately organized offshore operations.
