en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 23, India's state-owned oil and gas company Oil India announced the discovery of natural gas in the shallow-water block KG-DSF/GSKW/2018 in the Krishna-Godavari Basin off India's east coast. Since production testing of the target interval began on October 16, the discovery well Godavari-1 has recorded an initial natural gas test flow rate of approximately 100,000 standard cubic meters per day, reaching a peak of 200,000 standard cubic meters per day during continuous testing, along with condensate production. The well tested the previously unevaluated Matsyapuri Formation.

Oil India natural gas discovery offshore India

Godavari-1 is an offshore appraisal well located in a block under India's discovered small field development plan, with Oil India acting as sole operator. Drilling encountered hydrocarbon-bearing intervals at depths of 2,024 to 2,027 meters underground, corresponding to a thickness of approximately 3 meters. The company selected this interval for production testing, successfully bringing natural gas to surface and recording production under various flow rate conditions during testing.

In addition to natural gas, the well produced approximately 170 barrels of condensate per day, with a condensate API gravity of 55.8 degrees. Formation water was also detected during testing, with a wellhead pressure of 1,815 pounds per square inch, equivalent to approximately 12.5 megapascals. The gas flow rates, condensate production and pressure data announced are all from test results of the current target interval in the Godavari-1 well.

Following completion of testing in this interval, Oil India is preparing to test another target interval located higher in the well. Subsequent work will continue to obtain fluid production and test data from different intervals for reservoir evaluation of the well.
