en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced that the Jangkrik Northeast Well 6 offshore East Kalimantan has officially begun supplying natural gas to the Jangkrik floating production facility, with an initial daily output of approximately 60 million standard cubic feet. The Maha gas field, which is being prepared for commissioning during the same period, is planned to add 230 million standard cubic feet per day by the end of October. The two projects together add approximately 290 million standard cubic feet of gas supply capacity, and are expected to raise the Jangkrik facility's daily processing volume to approximately 750 million standard cubic feet by early November.

Jangkrik Northeast Well 6 completed production testing after sidetracking on October 9, with daily gas output increasing from approximately 10 million standard cubic feet to 56 million standard cubic feet. The operation also added approximately 100 billion cubic feet of initial natural gas geological resources. On October 22, the well was officially connected to the existing Jangkrik floating production facility, operating at a daily gas supply rate of approximately 60 million standard cubic feet.

The Maha gas field development project is located in the West Ganal block, with an engineering investment of approximately USD 891 million, including the Maha-3 and Maha-4 production wells and associated subsea production systems. The project will connect natural gas to the existing Jangkrik floating production facility and is planned to begin gas supply by the end of October. Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources expects that related construction and production activities will provide more than 700 jobs.

The two projects are implemented by Searah. The company, a joint venture between Italy's Eni Group and Malaysia's Petronas, operates multiple offshore gas assets in the Kutai Basin of East Kalimantan. The existing Jangkrik floating production facility handles natural gas and condensate processing. The processed natural gas is transported via subsea export pipelines to onshore receiving facilities in East Kalimantan, connecting to the Bontang LNG plant and the local natural gas pipeline network.

The Indonesian government's announced subsequent development plans also include the Gendalo and Gandang gas field projects, with related natural gas also planned to be connected to the Jangkrik floating production facility. Searah has proposed increasing its related natural gas business daily output to approximately 3 billion cubic feet by 2029, and achieving a condensate production target of 140,000 barrels per day. This target involves a broader range of development projects and is not the designed processing capacity of the Jangkrik facility itself.
