Canada's Arrow Completes Drilling of First C7 Reservoir Horizontal Well in Colombia
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, Canadian oil and gas company Arrow Exploration announced the latest drilling progress at the Icaco field in the Tapir Block of Colombia's Llanos Basin. The company completed drilling of the IC-HZ9 horizontal well on October 20, the first horizontal well in the Carbonera C7 reservoir in the block, and has identified approximately 950 feet (290 meters) of horizontal oil-bearing interval. During the same period, two producing wells, IC-8 and IC-7, commenced production on October 12 and September 20, respectively, and the company's overall daily oil and gas production exceeded 6,500 barrels of oil equivalent for the first time.

The IC-HZ9 well was spud on October 13, targeting the Carbonera C7 reservoir. After completing drilling, the company announced preliminary oil-bearing interval identification results and will proceed with related development work based on wellbore and reservoir evaluation. Arrow holds a 50% economic interest in the Tapir Block and conducts oil and gas operations in Colombia through its subsidiary Carrao Energy.
The IC-8 sidetrack well was spud on September 21 and reached a measured depth of 11,000 feet (approximately 3,353 meters) on October 3, with a true vertical depth of 7,384 feet (approximately 2,251 meters). Drilling identified effective oil-bearing intervals in four formations: Carbonera C7, Guadalupe, Lower Gacheta and Ubaque, with net oil pay of 23 feet and 30 feet in the C7 and Ubaque formations, respectively, both calculated on a true vertical depth basis.
IC-8 commenced production from the C7 reservoir on October 12, currently producing approximately 1,204 barrels of crude oil per day under constrained conditions, with approximately 602 barrels per day net to Arrow's interest. The well produces crude oil with an API gravity of 28.2° and a water cut of 33%, utilizing a 27/128-inch choke and a pump operating frequency of 32 Hz, and the wellbore is still being cleaned up.
The IC-7 well was spud on September 1 and reached total depth on September 7, with a measured depth of 13,000 feet (approximately 3,962 meters) and a true vertical depth of 7,347 feet (approximately 2,239 meters). Logging results identified net oil pay of 15 feet and 57 feet in the C7 and Ubaque formations, respectively. The well has been producing from the Ubaque reservoir since September 20, currently producing approximately 248 barrels of crude oil per day under constrained conditions, with 124 barrels per day net to Arrow's interest, an API gravity of 13.2° and a water cut of 31%.
Arrow has constructed 16 well pad facilities at the Icaco well site and continues to schedule drilling operations in the Carbonera C7, Gacheta and Ubaque reservoirs. The group's daily production of more than 6,500 barrels of oil equivalent announced on October 22 includes production from the new Icaco wells and the company's other oil and gas assets; the IC-HZ9 well has not yet contributed commercial production data.
