en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, KT Cloud commenced construction of a 50 MW artificial intelligence data center in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, Korea. The project is located in the Banwol National Industrial Complex, with a total floor area of approximately 36,900 square meters, two underground floors and nine above-ground floors, and an IT load capacity of 32 MW. Completion is scheduled for 2029. The data center features power supply, liquid cooling, and high-load-bearing structural designs tailored to high-density AI servers, and will be directly used by KT Cloud upon completion.

The construction contract was awarded to CJ Logistics' construction division, with a contract value of KRW 315 billion and a construction period of approximately 38 months. The scope of work includes civil engineering, main building construction, landscaping, and mechanical and electrical equipment installation, extending to Level 3 commissioning and verification, which involves initial startup and normal operating condition checks for individual equipment. The construction site plans to deploy drone workstations, AI-based engineering progress management tools, and four-dimensional building information modeling for construction progress monitoring, process coordination, and quality management.

All server rooms are designed to liquid-cooling-ready standards, and the building structure reserves high-load-bearing conditions suitable for NVIDIA's next-generation Vera Rubin series accelerated computing equipment. The cooling system adopts a free-cooling scheme, with cooling coils installed on the upper exterior walls of the building connected to closed-circuit cooling towers, utilizing the lower outdoor temperatures in spring, autumn, and winter to assist heat dissipation. The project will also be equipped with dedicated power facilities for high-density computing equipment, which together with the liquid cooling system will form the data center infrastructure.
