en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, UK-based Volta Data Centres completed the acquisition of the Manchester Reynolds House data center business from Lunar Digital, securing an operational data center facility and related colocation business in the city. The facility currently has approximately 1.45 megawatts of IT installed capacity and is planned for expansion to 2.5 megawatts, an increase of approximately 1.05 megawatts. The transaction is backed by Brookfield's infrastructure investment platform and marks Volta's first expansion of its data center business beyond London to Manchester.

The acquisition was structured as a carve-out transaction, with assets comprising two data center facilities at the Reynolds House campus, which will be named Volta-MAN1 and Volta-MAN2 respectively. A third facility located near the campus will use the name Volta-MAN3. The former operator, Lunar Digital, will retain its corporate brand, while the related Manchester operations team and customer service operations will transfer to Volta.

Reynolds House is located in a connectivity hub in south Manchester. The existing facility connects to approximately 25 carriers, hosts a London Internet Exchange (LINX) point of presence, and is linked to Equinix's MA1 data center via direct dark fiber. The transferred business serves approximately 60 customers across telecom networks, cybersecurity, IT services, and enterprise colocation.

The acquisition is backed by Brookfield's European Infrastructure Fund IV and represents the fund's first add-on acquisition since gaining control of Volta. Volta's existing London data center has approximately 6 megawatts of IT capacity. The acquired Manchester assets will be operated jointly by existing staff, planned new hires, and the company's centralized technical team.
