en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 23, Canadian oil and gas development company Westgate Energy announced the launch of its fall 2026 drilling program, covering two oil and gas assets, Killam and Beaverdam. At the Killam project, drilling has begun on a multi-lateral horizontal well targeting the Sparky formation, with a planned total lateral length of approximately 9,600 meters; at the Beaverdam project, re-entry and sidetrack operations will be carried out on the existing C3S well. The company expects both wells to begin production in late November.

The new Killam well is located near the existing 11-21 well. The 11-21 well is currently Westgate's best-performing producing well in this asset area, with a total lateral length of approximately 5,400 meters. The new well uses a longer multi-lateral design and reserves technical conditions for future waterflood development. The well has entered the drilling phase and will subsequently undergo wellbore construction, completion, and production facility tie-in.

The Beaverdam project focuses on restoring the C3S well, which was previously affected by equipment failure. The well's original drilling showed favorable reservoir conditions and hydrocarbon shows, but a mechanical failure of the production liner restricted reservoir fluid from entering the wellbore, interrupting production operations. Westgate plans to re-enter the original well and drill a new sidetrack section in the direction of the adjacent C2S horizontal well. C2S is currently the company's best-performing producing well in the Beaverdam asset area and serves as the reference for this sidetrack design.

Drilling operations for both wells are expected to continue through November, followed by completion and production facility tie-in. Westgate is also preparing its next round of Beaverdam drilling for the first quarter of 2027, with plans to add two wells and continue developing the local Mannville Stack reservoir resources.
