Shanghai's First Direct Flight Route to Algiers Opens

en.Wedoany.com Reported - At 03:07 Beijing time on October 27, Air Algérie flight AH3082 from Algiers, the capital of Algeria, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, marking the official launch of Shanghai's first direct passenger route to and from Algiers. On the same day, Pudong Airport held a water salute ceremony, the highest courtesy in civil aviation, to welcome the inaugural flight.

With the opening of this new intercontinental route, Shanghai has added another destination in a Belt and Road partner country. The route is operated by Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, with three flights per week starting October 27. Outbound flights depart from Pudong Airport at 06:00 Beijing time every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving in Algiers at 14:00 local time; return flights depart from Algiers at 07:00 local time every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, arriving at Pudong Airport at 04:00 Beijing time the following day.

Algiers is the capital of Algeria, located in the north of the country, and serves as the nation's political, economic, cultural and transportation center. Nestled against hills, Algiers is green with grass and blooming flowers year-round. The city is home to numerous historical sites and monuments: the "Casbah" is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the "Notre-Dame d'Afrique" sits atop a 124-meter-high cliff, offering sweeping views of the Bay of Algiers.

It has successively opened routes to multiple medium- and long-haul destinations including Dublin in Ireland; Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk in Russia; Tbilisi in Georgia; and Kolkata in India. These routes have also attracted a growing number of travelers from the Yangtze River Delta region, as well as from Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, who choose to depart from or transfer through Shanghai Airport to reach their destinations.
