en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, QatarEnergy LNG launched the contractor pre-qualification for the North Field offshore project, aiming to shortlist contractors to participate in engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI). The potential value of the relevant contracts is up to USD 4 billion, and the work falls under the COMP6 offshore compression facilities package of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) project. The project is currently at the contractor qualification screening stage and has not yet entered the contract award phase.

COMP6 is a follow-up offshore compression package of the North Field Production Sustainability project. In September 2026, France's Technip Energies was awarded the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for this package, responsible for the related engineering design studies. This pre-qualification is for the subsequent EPCI implementation phase, and the potential contract value falls within a different commercial scope from the previous FEED design contract.

The North Field Production Sustainability project targets the existing natural gas production system in the offshore area northeast of Qatar, building offshore compression facilities to maintain the field's natural gas production and its capacity to transport natural gas to onshore processing facilities. The overall works include offshore compression platforms, supporting facilities, and connection modifications to the existing production system, and are planned to be implemented in phases through 2032.
