en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, Strohm, a Dutch manufacturer of thermoplastic composite pipes, was awarded a contract by McDermott for subsea gas production jumpers, under which it will supply 4 carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) jumpers for an ultra-deepwater oil and gas field in Southeast Asia. The jumpers have an internal diameter of 6.9 inches and an average length of approximately 1,000 meters each, and are planned for installation in waters more than 2,200 meters deep. The contract value falls within the range of EUR 10 million to EUR 20 million.

The 4 jumpers are made of carbon fiber-reinforced PA12 thermoplastic composite material, with a combined length of approximately 4,000 meters based on the average. McDermott's Subsea and Floating Facilities business unit is responsible for equipment procurement and offshore installation on behalf of a major international oil and gas operator, and construction will use a vertical laying system (VLS). This solution leverages the spoolability, lighter weight and long-distance continuous delivery capability of thermoplastic composite pipes, combined with existing offshore pipelay equipment, to complete deepwater deployment.

Strohm's TCP pipe technology has completed qualification for a 30-year design life and features a corrosion-resistant, fatigue-resistant non-metallic composite structure. The company also introduced a 7-year product warranty in 2026. The ultra-deepwater gas production application, water depth conditions and vertical laying method associated with this order all fall within the defined engineering application scope of these jumpers.
