Canada's Ksi Lisims LNG Signs 1 Million Tonnes per Year Gas Supply Contract with Germany's SEFE

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, Canada's Ksi Lisims LNG project in British Columbia signed a legally binding long-term liquefied natural gas sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with German energy company SEFE. Under the agreement, SEFE will purchase 1 million tonnes of LNG per year for 20 years on a free-on-board (FOB) basis, with deliveries expected to begin in the early 2030s. This formal contract follows the preliminary agreement signed by both parties in May of this year.

With this signing, the Ksi Lisims LNG project has secured binding long-term sales contracts covering 7 million tonnes per year of LNG, with another 2 million tonnes per year at the preliminary agreement stage. The project's planned annual capacity is 12 million tonnes, and the capacity covered by formal sales contracts represents approximately 58.3% of the total. The developers plan to complete commercial sales arrangements for the full planned capacity by the end of 2026.

The project is located on the northwest coast of British Columbia, Canada, and is jointly developed by the Nisga'a Nation, Rockies LNG, and Western LNG. It plans to build a floating LNG export facility with an annual capacity of 12 million tonnes, with the liquefaction process system intended to be powered by hydroelectricity. Western LNG serves as the lead developer and future operator of the project.

Under the contract terms, SEFE obtains the right to lift LNG on an FOB basis and may arrange cargo destinations according to its global sales portfolio. The formal SPA completed by both parties continues the annual purchase volume and long-term supply arrangements established in the preliminary agreement of May 27, 2026, with the supply start date still set for the early 2030s.
