en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, U.S. energy technology company Baker Hughes disclosed that it has been awarded a contract by Italy's Eni for subsea production systems and associated services for the Cronos deepwater gas field in Cyprus, covering 4 subsea Christmas tree systems and related wellhead equipment. The two parties signed the agreement in Cyprus on October 26, and the contract has been included in the order backlog for the third quarter of 2026, with the first batch of equipment scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027.

The contract scope of supply includes deepwater subsea Christmas trees, wellhead equipment, connectors, subsea manifolds, topside control systems and related services. Baker Hughes will organize equipment supply using standardized, configurable subsea production systems to support Eni in accelerating the gas field development schedule. Work under the contract has already commenced, and equipment delivery will be aligned with the subsea well development and installation plan for the Cronos gas field.

The Cronos gas field is located in Block 6 offshore Cyprus, with Eni as operator holding a 50% interest and TotalEnergies holding the other 50%. The two parties made a final investment decision on July 28, 2026, with plans to develop the field through 4 subsea production wells. The project's original gas in place is estimated at more than 3 trillion cubic feet, with plateau production planned at up to 500 million standard cubic feet per day, and production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028.

Natural gas produced from the field will be transported via subsea pipeline to Egypt, processed using existing facilities at the Zohr gas field, and then sent to the Damietta LNG plant for liquefaction, primarily for export to the European market. Eni has signed the project's main engineering, procurement, construction and drilling contracts, with scope covering floating control units, subsea pipelines, flexible pipes, umbilicals, onshore pipelines and drilling services. The subsea production system for which Baker Hughes is responsible is an independent equipment supply contract within the development project.
