en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, Norwegian oil and gas developer Aker BP confirmed in its third-quarter engineering progress report that all major subsea facilities for the Yggdrasil oil and gas development project in the North Sea have been installed, the subsea engineering alliance has completed the remaining umbilical laying, and the Munin platform topside module was also installed in place during the third quarter. The project has now commenced offshore hook-up and commissioning operations, with first oil and gas production planned for mid-2027.

The Yggdrasil project comprises the Hugin A central processing platform, the Hugin B unmanned wellhead platform, the Munin unmanned production platform, and associated subsea production facilities. In the third quarter, following the offshore installation of the Munin platform topside module, engineering personnel carried out platform hook-up and commissioning work. The subsea engineering alliance simultaneously completed the remaining umbilical installation, marking the conclusion of the major subsea facility installation tasks.
Drilling operations have also entered an intensive implementation phase. Drilling work in the Hugin A area has been completed. As of the end of September, a total of three drilling rigs were conducting drilling operations in the Yggdrasil development area. Aker BP plans to add one more drilling rig before the end of 2026 to continue progressing production well construction in the development area. Under the current development plan, more than 55 wells are planned for the entire project.
On the onshore engineering front, the Hugin A platform topside module located at Stord is undergoing equipment completion and commissioning. The project's onshore power supply system has entered the final commissioning stage prior to handover to operations, the integrated operations center in Stavanger has been put into operation, and the supporting digital infrastructure is still under construction.
Aker BP participates in the Yggdrasil development together with Equinor and ORLEN Upstream Norway. According to this quarterly report, the project's estimated recoverable resources following the Omega Alfa discovery are approximately 800 million barrels of oil equivalent, with Aker BP's corresponding pre-tax net investment estimated at USD 12.5 billion to 13 billion.
